review 1: Oh my word. I have so much feeling for this book! I really appreciated the struggles that Grace was going through. Lately I seem to be reading a lot of books that address infertility (not intentionally!), and I think Grace's has been the most realistic yet. Her pain was always there on the surface, like ice you could break through if you're at just the right angle.Something that I really loved, albeit a very small detail; was the naming of the chapters after the macaron flavours. I have never had a macaron in my life, but boy oh boy, after reading this book, I can't wait to try them!
review 2: Hannah Tunnicliffe's debut novel, The Color of Tea is a scrumptious story of love, friendship and renewal.Despite the bit of a slow, somewhat unhappy beginning, the book ... moreis deserving a 4-star rating. To fill the void in the protagonist's life... childlessness, Grace opens Lillian’s, a French patisserie in exotic Macau. With French-named Macrons, a delectable, a sweet meringue-based confection as the top-offered treat. Though most of those in my book group wished that some of the delicious recipes were included. The cafe brings together an unlikely group of offbeat, resilient, and most interesting women who provide strength and support to each other.The ending is somewhat too picture perfect, a happy ending for all of the characters. A nice enjoyable read. The ultimate beauty of the story is the inspiring message about the value of friendship. less
