review 1: Based on a true story about a girl living in the projects in Brooklyn who gets pregnant at 13. I was really excited about this book but was disappointed to see the main character continually make mistakes which will affect her for the rest of her life. I was hoping to see her mature at the end and see her have a positive outcome in her life but when it ends it feels like she is just as confused as when the story started.
review 2: This was an interesting little read, a little out of my box. I think it read like young adult throughout most of the book (but the subject matter involves drugs, lesbian relationships and sexual experimentation, sex and teen pregnancy). I enjoyed the book and it certainly held my attention. It felt very real to me. Raw at times ... morebut I was very emotionally pulled in especially the last 50 pages or so. I think this would make a good book club book. Lots to talk about! less
