review 1: Totally fascinating book and an easy read. I didn't know anything about the subject matter, and I thought it was worth a read for the account of the legal theatrics at the Colt trial, and the crazy twist at the end which I did not see coming (if you're someone who knows a lot about the case or Samuel Colt already, probably not the book for you). In addition to being a 'true crime' book it also has a lot of good commentary on sensationalist journalism.
review 2: Killer Colt is not my normal reading material but I enjoyed this book for several reasons. Many newer TV shows focus on forensic science and crime reconstruction. It is taken for granted that murders and murderers haven't changed much since the beginning of time, however, this book harkens back to a
... moretime before it was commonly accepted that a killer would try to hide the body and conceal the crime. This book also brings to light the emergence of tabloid newspapers and the affect that they can have on the human psyche and the outcomes of trials. A good read. less
