The War That Came Early
review 1: I've always enjoyed Harry Turtledove's alternative history novels. This time he's turned his attention to WWII. If you are familiar with alternative history works, you know the routine of changing some important aspect of "real" history and then write about how this changes the future. Turtledove does this incredibly well. The only problem I have this time out is that I'm not getting a sense of how the "history" affects the daily life they live. This is most likely because of the emphasis upon military personnel and events. I hope this changes since this series has six volumes.

... morend you of who they are (just like Sam "I-get-sunburned-easy-and-aviation-is-the-future-of-naval-warfare" Carsten), but I just couldn't get into them much. What I do like is the re-imagining of the war. That's probably what a majority of the readers are looking for as well. For that, it's entertaining. I've got most of the rest of the series on the shelf waiting to read and I will keep with it, but I hope that I can grow fonder of the characters as the story progresses (I did with Turtledove's "Darkness" series, so I'm optimistic). less

Wonderful book. Love all the different points of view he uses. A must for alternate history fans.

Mi piacciono i libri di storia parallela, ma questo è banale e abbastanza ripetitivo
