review 1: This book had so much potential. The concept of a teenage girl haunted by demons in her nightmares and later in her waking moments, was pretty interesting. However I was very disappointed to find the writing a bit sloppy and filled with unnecessary high school drama. It felt like the book was more focused on Quinn's confusion about her feelings toward her ex-boyfriend and Aaron. I thought this plot would be more focused on why Quinn is tormented by demons and how she is going to fight it. Instead, Quinn plays a victim for the whole book and never takes action to rid herself of the demons. She is more focused on how her life is crumpling apart, losing her head position as cheerleader, dealing with her father leaving and her distant mother, trying to get back her ex. ... moreShe just sits back and lets all this bad stuff happen to her without taking steps to help herself. The end of the book felt like it was tying loose ends together very quickly while also adding even more back story to the characters that I feel should have been introduced in the beginning.
review 2: I was seriously disappointed with the book. The lead character Quinn, is haunted by shadows, pining for her ex-boyfriend, and playing will I won't I with Aaron. Aaron is easily liked. He feels drawn to Quinn but she is to busy talking to the shadows in her head. The plot never really develops and the writing is lackluster at best. I found myself seriously trying to prevent myself from skipping whole chapters in hope the story would actually go somewhere and turn into a real adventure. It was so forgettable. less
