review 1: This is a great book but certainly heavy going. I read it over a 2 week period. Helen Castor is a great writer and I also love watching her documentaries when they air on TV. This book made me realise how in-bred the English monarchy was -cousins marrying cousins down through the line - and how all these "English" queens were really French, German - or from other European provinces. A great read if you are into historical books
