review 1: Thornspell had a promising premise and a promising start: the story of a prince locked away in a remote castle, as bound by magic as the princess he was set to save. However, the first half was by far the better. After leaving West castle the plot became a confusing mix of plodding and rushed with forced feeling setups. the things that happened had a fairy tale feel to them, but they somehow didn't suit this story. Perhaps with a different prince, or different writing they would have worked, but in this book I was left unimpressed. the resolution, while appropriate, honestly wasn't satisfying g.

... morehis one was told from the perspective of the prince (which is the active role, after all - I guess Sleeping Beauty from the perspective of the princess would be pretty boring), and I liked that this prince, while certainly prone to the impatience of a young hero type, was also capable of thinking before he acted. less
