review 1: I was recommended this book somewhere - I wish I remember who had so I could tell them they are a moron.I am struggling. I read a lot. All the time. I have struggled with this book. I have stopped reading as much as I normally do because I can't get through it.There have been a few good 'highlightable' lines but overall....no. Just, no.I am bored. I have made it to 49% on my kindle and I am scratching my head wondering why it isn't done yet. The main character is unsympathetic and boring - I find myself not really caring what happens to her. I think I have decided to not bother finishing it as it kills my love of reading. I can count on one hand the books I have put down without finishing, and I am sad to add a new one to the list.
review 2: Frustrating. I have... more owned this book two years or more and failed to finish so finally buckled down to the terrible task. Disorganized. Chronologically makes no sense. Random characters come in and out of the picture, don't even bother to try to remember who they are. Takes over 300 pages to even have the rhythm of a story. Harrison's story seems to change from beginning to middle (drama teacher? Fighter? Olympic athlete wanna be? Edit: this is clarified about 100 pages to the finish line...) Ultimately the story of a weak and powerless woman who denies herself when she has the power to make choices to change her life in the direction that would make her happy. At least I have conquered this miserable monolith. Some pretty good one liners, especially in the last part of the book (she must have written it years later from the beginning) less
