review 1: set on the island of Gotland in Sweden and in Japan, this was a moderately interesting murder mystery. I don't need to have all the loose ends tied up at the end of a book, but this one left several hanging, most of which were pointless. And there wasn't enough tension or drama to make the wounded policeman in the ICU chapters have much meaning. But I did finish reading it, so it couldn't have been that bad.
review 2: This is yet another Scandinavian author that I've enjoyed very much. This book is set on the island of Gotland. A wealthy man returns home after working in Japan for the last ten years. A few days after his return his wife is found murdered in their home along with the body of a man. The local detectives are called in and their first job is to
... moreidentify the man's body. Once that is done they begin to look for the killer. There are no obvious suspects. Frederik Borman and his team track down many theories without many results. Almost by the process of elimination it becomes evident who the killer is. Then they need to find that person. The end of the book is rather unique because in addition to getting a confession, Frederik is gravely injured. At the end we also learn the motive behind the killings. I look forward to his next book. less

Gawd awful; predictable, repetitive, boring.
