review 1: I just wasn't engaged by this book or its characters. I would probably have liked it more if it were not in the format of correspondence. The constant switch from one inane letter to another was irritating and I found it hard to believe that someone who started this search would have waited ( with information in hand) to read that letter or visit that lawyer or open that box. It just wasn't a satisfying read and the denouement was a let down.
review 2: I was intrigued by the title of this book when I spotted it in the giveaway as I had just read 'Caught in the Light' and it struck a chord. Would this book be similar - in a word 'No' although there was the same level of intrigue. I really liked this book and could have easily read it at one sitting. The book... more was full of melancholy and sadness, but there was a lot of thought provoking material - would I have done that, who would I blame etc etc A really good first novel and I look forward to more from Helene. Thank You less
