review 1: Somebody Up There Hates You, by Hollis Seamon, is a novel about two kids in a hospice dying from cancer. They are in love and want to spend the rest of their lives to the fullest. Now, I can't exactly say that this plot is not a cliché to other cancer books; The two kids in love dying from cancer. I get it. A "typical cancer love story." This book is a little different though. Our protagonist, Richard Casey, takes us on a journey through the eyes of a 17 year old boy living his remaining days in a place that welcomes death but makes the best of it. Now, there are many different takes that can be made on this book. The one that the author is really trying to show us is that no matter the circumstance, always live life to the fullest. Not necessarily by trying to loose virg... moreinity or spending Cabbage Night TP-ing someones house, but to not be afraid to take risks that you would regret not taking later. Richard does this by stepping outside the barriers of his safe little hospice room and out into the big mysterious world. Richard conveys to the reader that there are no re-do's in life. You have only the now. There is a lot more to Richard than being a hormonal teenage boy. He's our representation of how you need to spend each day like it's your last. Even if that means telling someone you love them. Or maybe that means making up with someone that you hold grudges against. Whatever is may be, just go for it. As Richard shows us in his small adventures in a hospice, life is too short to hold back. If I rated this book based off it's general story, I would rate it a 3 stars out of 5. It has a good plot, but there are so many others like it. On the other hand, if I rated this book based off of the moral, I would rate it a 5 out of 5. I bet we can all say there have been days where we pass by a chance that could completely change our lives, but we either ignore it or second guess ourselves. Hollis Seamon shows us through Richard that no matter what, it shouldn't take a diagnosis of SUTHY ( Somebody Up There Hates You) to make you want to live life to the fullest.

Too much like The Fault in Our Stars... feels like a knock-off.
