review 1: Hmm well this was a surprisingly good story for me. I was hooked from the very beginning where we learn about Zach and Angel's first encounter when he rescues her from slavers. Then the book fast-forwards abit to tell us how Zach and the enigmatic Monroe meet (he rescues Zach whilst he is on a marine mission) and then finally we learn of Monroe's relationship with Angel. So you see we have a twisted web of encounters that eventually lead all three characters together, at Monroe's home. Zach unwhittingly ends up caring for Angel when Monroe goes off on one of his secret missions, where he comes to love her and vice versa. This is not some sort of affair.....Monroe has orchestrated this so that Angel, who still has issues relating to her past, is not on her own. What i liked... more about this, and what intrigued me alot, was Zach and Monroe's relationship. They are not gay, but clearly love each other (and Angel of course). Zach looks up to Monroe who not only saved him, but taught him everything he knows about bdsm. There is definitely something there, which Zach refuses to address, so he ends up taking off when Monroe returns from his mission. This breaks Angel's heart, but alas, Zach comes to his senses and they end up together. The story ended well and left me wanting to read more about how their threesome develops.Four solid stars for me!
review 2: This is my first book by Roberts, and I was fairly impressed. The characters all were well developed, even if Monroe still seemed to be a bit elusive. The scenes were very hot, especially the shibari in the club. Only two things hung me up. One was that Zach's big reveal moment was a bit tame. The second was that we never see anything develop further between Zach & Monroe, and I really wish we got more with that. Over all though a decent read. :) less
