review 1: I learned enough about the history of our perceptions of the human body to give this book three stars, but I was disappointed in the spastic ride it took me on. The book got more organized as it went on, but still the progression seemed to jump all over the place without a central unifying thread beyond the chapter's title and the fact it was all linked to the human body. I was hoping for all the parts: medical, historical, cultural, to be tied together, but instead I got each part, separate from the whole picture.
review 2: I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher in a Goodreads giveaway, and am providing my honest opinion in return. This book was refreshing to read because it was well researched and well written. I give kudos to the aut
... morehor on tackling such a heavy topic. At first I was unsure as to how much more light this book could shed on the human anatomy, which I thought was already a well-covered topic. After finishing this book, all I can say is WOW! I am extremely impressed at the enormous amount of research that must have been undertaken and the depth the author dared to delve into. If you enjoy history, anatomy, and learning new things (with a slightly humorous undertone), then this is a must read for you. This book is an excellent companion for the potential medical student; or a nice treat for anyone else interested in the human body. I highly recommend this book! A+++++++++++ less
