review 1: I had at best a cursory knowledge of the Titanic and found this a very enjoyable and poignant retelling of the story from the vantage point of the more illustrious passengers. It is an easy and quick read and satisfied my curiosity. As they say, "Mistakes were made" and so much loss feels almost Greek in the hubris that brought about this tragedy. While the concentration is on the personalities of the rich and famous, I came away with a greater sense of the pointlessness of this loss among those in second class, steerage and shipmates whose deaths were unheralded. For this I commend the author.
review 2: I absolutely enjoyed this book. So well written and informative. I've read a fair amount about the Titanic and this book was so different from any others. I
... more enjoyed how it focused on the actual people wether it was crew or passengers and their lives before the accident, how they acted while in the lifeboats and gave a blurb of many of them after being rescued and back in their regular lives, and how their lives carried on and eventually ended. Very well written less
