review 1: This lovely book didn't take me any time to read, it took me about 4 days and I just couldn't set it down! I couldn't read any other books with it and I've been trying to get out of contemporary reads, but this was one of the best contemporary I have read since I still love Anna and the French kiss. Like Eleanor & Park it had a lot going on in it. It focuses around a summer and it's not just a short while like in most of the books I read where let's say like the mortal instruments: they surround a couple weeks during the whole book. This book lasts for a good 3 to 4 months which is the equivalency of a summer and a lot happens in this summer for the main character Samantha. I really don't have anything bad to say, the main character wasn't whiny at all, which is one of the... more things I hate about some books, I love the writing it was fairly well, and the only thing that pops into my head that I didn't like is the way Jase is spelled. I'm so used to it being spelled with a c, in the Mortal Instruments and when I seen Jase as in Jason it kind of mixes up in my brain and it doesn't look right. But you know that's just a small little detail in the book and I'm going to say this again I don't have anything bad to say about it and it is possibly one of the best books I have read so far! I think this is one of the first books Huntley Fitzpatrick has written and I think she did a very good job because books are really hard to write and its hard to get a story going but she kept it all the way through and I was satisfied.
review 2: This book kind of surprised me. I started out not really liking it a whole lot, but the more I read, the more I got drawn into the characters and how the story line unfolded. I appreciated how Huntley Fitzpatrick wove the relationships, whether it was Jase and Samantha and their dating relationship, or the siblings relationships, into something you would actually expect from reality. Samantha isn't the stuck up rich snob of a Senators daughther that suddenly realized how shallow she was and turned her life around, but your typical all-American girl who knows what she has and doesn't have, who fell in love with the boy next door, and it's heartwarming. And the Garretts are the epitome of a big family that struggles together and loves even more. Definitely a wonderful read! less
