review 1: Light reading for those moments you don't want to think too hard. I haven't read any others in the series. Based on this story I wouldn't say they're the typical example of the mystery genre, the mystery is the main plot driver, but it's fairly slow paced and deals more with the main character's disappointments in life than anything else. It's humorous and entertaining though, I quite enjoyed it on the whole.
review 2: I really wish this would be the last book in the series. I thought this book was a big departure from the prior books in that it really focused on Israel's state of being and not just humorous set-ups (although it has those, too). ... moreith himself. I really liked that, but that's not what attracted me to the series and not what I expected. Still--not bad, not excellent, just a good, quick read. less

This series is a quirky, tongue-in-cheek kinda mystery. Very light and fun reading.

Mildly amusing in places but not nearly enough plot to sustain a full-length novel.
