review 1: This historic account of what went on during the days and years after Pearl Harbor is a wonderful one. All the details are in place and even though history has already be written, Ian Toll provides more accounts of what occurred. Readers can feel like they were really there to see what happened on the fateful day of Pearl Harbor and what the US naval forces did not combat this atrocity. I recommend this book for anyone interested in history and especially for those in naval warfare.
review 2: an enjoyable read thanks largely to the writers brisk journalistic style. However, the book reviews a period covered by dozens of other works without adding anything new. So in that regard the book is a good synopsis of the first six months of the war in the Pacific (even
