review 1: Well that was...disappointing. Ended too abruptly, like so many have mentioned...Also, it was a bit disturbing. I'm all for forceful seduction and what not, but...well, if the guy doesn't see (or doesn't eventually see) the woman as an actual person (you know, rather than a pretty possession that's going to make a kid for him) it just doesn't sit well with me.And if she possibly caves and decides she wants to stay with him in the future, without this happening, that's just both sad and disappointing for a heroine, in my view.Either way, being trapped and forced to pop out alien babies for whoever knows how long is disturbing. (And on a nit-picky note...even if all 50 people in that ship were female, they wouldn't be able to repopulate. Not with any healthy genetic results,... more anyway.)Anyway, since I didn't get a decent story that made me like the male lead, or any male character...(Seriously? Imprisoning and forcefully breeding people who came to HELP them?) I like to think the men get comeuppance. Eventually the women violently revolt, or Earth finds out and sends in the troops, kicking their sorry asses since they're so few after the disease. They die painfully. Or are imprisoned.Or the as women leave/escape and they lose them and their precious new children. (Because I'm optimistic and like to think the women wouldn't take it out on the innocent babies.) Being left to rot. Not like they're getting any humanitarian aid again.
review 2: Well this was a short story, I wish it was a full length novel just like many of this authors books she writes shorts about 80-100 pages usually, Capturing Jeron was great which she also wrote.. but this book was a good read for a short. A relief group of doctors, nurses and medical supplies and so on are sent to a planet that has been hit by a plague killing many 'well the relief crew does not know but most are dead. All women are dead and only men remain.. The crew is in cryo-stasis asleep and the ship they are in is hit by a bad space storm so the captain of the ship Alena is woken from sleep and not the normal way when she is thrown about in her sleeping capsul she awakes and climbs out and gets to her command post to check on damaged and see what is happening. The only way out of this storm is to put the ship in hyper drive and jump them out of this area, it will take most of the fuel and could harm the ship or they can stay in this storm 'stuck' and die... she jumps the ship out... and is able to make contact with the destination they were to land but tells them of the ships damage and her landing problems since the reverse thrusters were knocked out she cannot land safely... But Commander of the planet says we have have a netting / like tractor beam to pull you in and catch you, he turns the vid off and his second in commmand is there and both men have a devish smile on their face, remember all women on this planet have died and the commander has already claimed the captain of the ship..they know other women are aboard and when the landing is completed without any death all is well. So they think... all aboard the ship are seperated into two groups men and women. Fewer men, but all the women are taken and I will leave it at that.. read it. it is a nice hot read, wish it was longer... less
