review 1: I když se dva lidé živí psaním, jsou v osobní komunikaci stejně neobratní, jako kdokoli jiný - neupřímní, bojácní, neschopni se plně vyjádřit ale také otevření, ochotni naslouchat, náladoví. A přesto mi jsou oba spisovatelé ve své upřímnosti(když už) tak blízcí - Celan svou impulzivností, Bachmannová svou empatií. Jejich korespondence mi připomíná tolik z mého osobního života. Ošklivé vzpomínky, i ty krásné.
review 2: These letters are more of biographic interest than they are intrinsically interesting. The letters focus on missed meetings and recriminations. There's little poetics, little literary observation, nothing of contemporary events. If I knew more of Celan and Bachmann's writing, I might find these letters... more illuminating, but as it is, the letters come off as commentaries on a relationship between two people growing more distant from each other over time. less
