review 1: I enjoyed this book when I read it the first time, I really did. I liked reading about the lifestyle of a few obviously wealthy and privileged teenage girls living in the Upper West Side of NYC; It was nice to read about the Met, which I want to visit someday, and I absolutely adored Dinah (and I still do, that little girl is probably the best character out of all of them).Then, I went through and started to re-read Starry Night, and as I did, I started to understand why so many people gave this book bad reviews. Wren meets boy in band. Wren falls in love with boy in band. Wren sacrifices the chance to go to an amazing art school to be with boy in band, but then he reveals that he has been seeing her best friend, Reagan. Wren is upset and angry, but she moves on with life ... moreand goes to a different art school where she continues to obsess over the Starry Night painting. It wasn't a terrible book, but it was extremely predictable, and Farah's incident with Cy was downright creepy. But, the jacket cover is pretty, so I'll give it that.
review 2: This book was almost like a bad train wreck--kind of horrible, but I couldn't look away. I was so looking forward to this one, but I ended up so disappointed.The narrator was annoying. I had problems with most all the characters, as more often than not, they seemed much younger than 15. I felt like I was reading about 12-year-olds. Everything felt unrealistic. And the insta-love between Wren and Nolan was awful. There was no substance, no rhyme or reason to anything the kids did. I'm not even going to touch on any of the other events, but they infuriated me. There was no plot, no point, nothing. I'm sorry if it's mean, but this book really was just a hot mess. less
