review 1: Probably more like 4 and a half stars. There are some deep, insightful truths in this true account of a man who was blinded as a child and went on to lead a resistance movement during WWII. I love how he describes the increase of his other senses once his sight is gone & how at one point he loses those gifts because he's stuck in a self pity mode. There are other great things as well, but I'll let you discover them. Lots of wisdom in this book.
review 2: I won this in a firstreads giveaway, I know I'm supposed to make that clear. I think this definitely builds and gets better as it goes along. It started out kind of choppy, with lots of short, short sentences, so there wasn't much flow, but get through that and it's really good. I know I don't summarize a lo
... moret in my reviews, but I think the book description can do that part and I'll just say what I think about it. less
