review 1: Dodie's Review As a Politically Incorrect book, you know that this is about something you aren't supposed to like, but do anyway. If you don't like forbidden pleasures, or descriptions of something society says you aren't supposed to like – don't read this book. Hani is an old school powerful alpha male. He's constrained by his society's beliefs of proper behavior, but his Wife is American and is unaware of Hani's society's rules. Shannon is a modern American woman, and is fiercely independent. They can't seem to relate to each other to the point where Shannon believes their marriage is one of convenience, but Hani married her for love. What he does to make her understand his culture, and force her to see that he loves her is what makes this book a Politically Incorrect b... moreook, and I won't reveal it. Suffice it to say that they find their HEA, in a manner that I found absorbing, and entertaining. I read Subjugated in one quick setting. I don't think I put my Nook down at all. 5 Tea Cups!
review 2: This is a very short read. And as such, there's only so much space for an author to develop adequate conflict, characterization and emotion. If written right, a book of this length will give the reader a satisfying blend of all three. Subjugated does just that. Sure, I wouldn't have minded if it had been...oh, say...another 100 pages or so :) But it's great having a new Jaid Black book to read, and I'm happy to hear she's writing again! Jaid, if you're reading this, *please* write the next Viking Underground book. less
