review 1: Another book that sums up the current state of the world without offering any quantitative solutions. It offers a decent, cursory overview of our various calamities - financial sector, energy, climate, resources scarcity. What is unacceptable is a very few scattered footnotes and its complete lack of graphs, charts and NO index or bibiography. Just take him for his word. There are much better, and less opinionated and biased, books out there.
review 2: Main takeaways? We need to focus our efforts on public transportation and local foods. We need to reevaluate our own lifestyle. Humans, I think, are adaptable. However, we are too obsessed with our own capital growth that many of us can't or won't give up those oh so important (insert sarcasm) novelties of the 21... morest century. Green movements are happening on the ground- we can't wait for government and big business to untangle themselves. less
