The English Spy

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After reading the English Assassin, the English Girl, now come the English Spy.

I feel this book is a transformation for Christian Keller from an assassin into the good guys club. Most of the story is centered on him.
For Gabriel Allon, all the background story is somehow connected between the bomber that kill his son and Christian. Weird, actually, how 2 people from different background and country could be linked by 1 person.
Using IRA as a background story here is a bit unusual. Usually the Office is more connected to German, Nazi, Swiss, Russia. But it’s quite a nice touch all in all. Give a story a bit of a twist and an insight into the IRA.

At some parts, I feel that it’s reading a kind of puzzle/treasure hunt. Because all the clues about finding Eamon Quint is like bits and pieces everywhere. A photo here, a clue there. It’s kind of tiring sometimes, but somehow the pieces connected into a bigger picture.

The story is quite fast pace. Something you can’t put down because you’ll be curious about the end. The one thing that got me confuse only because it’s moving from 1 country to another and it involves too many nationality.

I like the end (part 4) when Gabriel and Christian finally settle down. There’s a bit of life and love there.
Good thing the end is Christian got Eamon Quint.

Recommended for those who like fast paced thriller story, espionage stuff and a romantic story about love, revenge and justice.
