review 1: What can I say. The world itself was amazing. A+. Reminds me quite a bit of Prophet, just nutty and fantastical. It was really just too bad it was so riddled with potty (read: penis) humor. And uninteresting and oversexualized depictions of women. Total F. I would recommend this to the right reader, but strongly discourage the majority of people out there from picking it up. Let's put it another way, it would be a great MtV series to go along with Beavis and Butthead...
review 2: You know... I read this way back in the early spring, and to be honest, now that it's December, I don't really even remember the plot. But I don't effin' care. All I have to do is close my eyes and think about it, and I remember the jolt it gave me. The artwork is UN. REAL. The world-b
... moreuilding is ridiculous. Giddy. Totally crazy, and yet it all hangs together in a way that doesn't offend my overly-literal sensibilities. What exactly happens? Not sure. Explosions? Sulking? If a special anniversary edition DVD of The Dark Crystal got left in a dusty box with Princess Mononoke and del Toro's Hellboy II, and they ended up becoming best friends and hanging out and having a wild crazy menage-a-trois-fest one night... I can't help but feel that this would be the awkward-but-awesome morning-after result. less
