review 1: The Olivia books are a fun series that children love to read along with adults. This book tells a story of Olivia and her family and their adventures in Venice. The illustrations of Venice give us a realistic view of the city. On their trip they cross throughout the Grand Canal while stopping numerous times to have gelato ice cream. Olivia is so enthusiastic about touring Venice and going on a gondola ride. Finding a perfect souvenir was her goal. The illustrations take up the whole page showing the reader Venice and their trip. The background of Venice on each page is very detailed giving it a realistic view. The illustrations are busy giving the reader a lot to look at. I would recommend this book to children because a lot of children can relate to it. Throughout the sto... morery Olivia needs ice cream many of times and all children enjoy ice cream. This book also gives them a chance to learn a little bit about Venice and it’s history.
review 2: I enjoy all the Olivia books! It brings a lot of humor and enjoyment for the reader. This could be a great way to introduce a social studies unit or math unit dealing with distance and measurements. It is also a good way to show students what neat things to do in Venice, Italy, as well as the joys with traveling and seeing more of the world. Students could even write about a place that they would love to visit someday or a place that they have already Ben to and the fun memories they experienced. less
