review 1: She could probably become a favorite in the chick list authors' list. The setting was Liverpool, and I missed it; every time she mentioned the Docks I smiled. Of course that doesn't say much about her literary flair, but impressions are what counts here :P Emma finds a list she wrote when she was fifteen and which had 12 items she was supposed to cross off before her 30th birthday. Throughout the book, she manages to downright ruin some of them and actually live up to others, and it is fun to watch. Not life changing, but fun. I might try her other books at some point - still looking for a plan B in case Sophie Kinsella, knock on wood, decides to retire and live in Ibiza.
review 2: This was a great book to start the year off as Emma's list is similar to all tho
... morese resolutions I make and don't do very well at keeping. It has even inspired me to make a wish list of things I would like to do before I'm forty. In a sometimes funny and sometimes heartfelt way, it is a good reminder not to fall into the routine of adult life, to reevaluate and try new things out. I liked Emma because she was very normal; sometimes comically daft but also a recognisable grown up and it was nice to have a different city as the setting (Liverpool, rather than London). I will definitely try out some more of this authors work less
