review 1: I felt like reading some kink, so I looked through some of the older stories that I hadn't gotten around to reading yet. I'm so glad I picked this one! It was just WONDERFUL! Hot, super sexy, great characterization and writing, and just overall an excellent story. I love that it was a long story and I just loved the entire progression of teaching to tentative relationship to love for Sterling and Owen. I wanted to punch Sterling's family and Kirk, but the conflicts felt believable and really moved the story along. I never felt bored and I didn't want this story to end!If you want an excellent BDSM book with complex characters and solid writing, I'd say to give this one a try!
review 2: College student Sterling discovers BDSM when he happens upon a private scene
... more at a party. He befriends Alex, one of the men he viewed, and begins researching BDSM. When he finally visits the local BDSM club, he is shocked to see Owen, a college professor with whom Sterling had a contentious relationship in class. He is even more surprised to see Owen dominating a young woman in a scene. Sterling is sure that Owen is the person who can teach him everything he needs to know about the lifestyle; unfortunately, Owen refuses. Now Sterling must make it his mission to change his mind.I've read several books over the past four days, and this was the best of them all. Sterling is a brat, but his brattiness is understandable when his family situation comes to light. For some reason, his father has always hated him and his mother has never stood up for her son, so it is natural for Sterling to face dominant males with an attitude. The authors save Sterling from being annoying and petulant by allowing him to come to the realization that he needs to be submissive in order to be happy. All the years he's spent rebelling against his father haven't allowed him to know his true self. When he finally gets Owen to agree to train him, he is putting himself on the path toward happiness. As their relationship grows into something deeper, it becomes obvious that both Owen and Sterling meet each others needs in ways that no one else can. Sterling is both submissive and challenging. Owen is firm and tender. I would love to see these characters a few years down the road. I'm sure that their relationship would still be dynamic, sexy, and tender. less
