review 1: This was the classic rise-to-the top, just-to-fall-from-grace-novel. I thought this was a great author a few years ago. Now, it seems like the stories are all the same with a twist. I understand the premise of referring to the connect as "God". I did not like it though. It would have been nice to have more of BG's back story. Overall, I really think this author has more potential thank was displayed in this book.
review 2: JaQuavis didn't disappoint at all. The relationship between Sean and Sunny seemed as if they would make it work from the beginning. As they began getting older Sunny started letting a man change her and neglected the friendship she once had with Sean. Throughout everything that occurred Sunny still managed to hold a soft spot with Sean.
... more I was so glad he finally did what he had to do when it came to Faheem. I couldn't believe Sunny let it go as far as it did and still ended up blaming Sean. BG was the truth! I liked her because no matter what, she genuinely cared for Sean and always had his best interest at heart. Ugh God! To have so much power but still be upset about Sean stepping away was crazy. He went overboard hurting the people closest to Sean and made me wonder if he had anything to do with Mook because of what Fox did. The secrets that were revealed that no one knew was shocking to say the least. If someone is at the top of their game you never truly know when it can all be taken away and you'll need some of the same people you neglected on your way up. Even with some people turning on Sean, BG and Beans seemed to always have his back. I was so glad that God and Freddie both got what they rightfully deserved. Sean scared me for a minute at the end, but all in all I'm glad he was able to show that he was no longer weak and realized he still had someone in his corner. less
