review 1: I tried, I really, really tried to get all the way through this book. I liked the prospect of a female vampire for a change, but it didn't work for me at all once I started reading it. I got through about 300 pages before I had to stop. Katrina treats Caleb like a slave, nothing more. The love she claims seems to be a bit ridiculous as she keeps trying to lock him away. And he keeps falling for it! Sounds like Stockholm syndrome to me. It really didn't do anything to keep my attention, but I really wanted it too, so I tried to get through the end. Then I realized that it didn't really matter as I wouldn't recommend or read again.
review 2: I wanted to enjoy this story, but at the 44% mark, I couldn’t go any farther. Why? As a reader, I don’t need th
... moree author to explain every little detail the characters are performing. The constant description following each comment by any character was much too cumbersome. How are readers supposed to connect with them when the author keeps interrupting our train of thought? It was just too much. Note: This isn’t the first YA I’ve read. I understand language and structure will be different for the younger crowd, but this one missed the mark. I would suggest this go to a good editor to clean up all the frivolous and over burdensome descriptions. Two and half stars. less
