review 1: This book would have been so much better with a lighter romance or none at all. The guardian angel aspect in the beginning was good and I wished that the relationship between Caleb and Kat had gone in another direction. The lovey dovey smiling and all the arms wrapping around the waist was over the top for me. I did love Paige and Alton and thought the interactions between Paige and Caleb were great.It felt like there were parts missing from the story and I have to admit that when Caleb was stuck inside without any contact to the outside world there was never any mention about his job. Maybe it was because the holidays were close and I missed the part where that was explained but it infuriated me. He just drops everything and never gives it a thought. I do like romance nov... moreels but thinking that if Kat had been a man and Caleb a woman this would have been called sexist which it was.The 3 stars are for Paige, Alton and the avenging vampire aspect.
review 2: I found the beginning of this book to be interesting and kept reading attentively waiting to see what would happen. Even when I started to feel Caleb was a weak leading man (literally) I thought, ok, just a new take on vampire/human romance. But the book lost me when they are hidding out at Kat's. I felt trapped with them. There was no growth, intrigue or action. It just stopped. The book does have a stop and go feel to it but at this part of the story is where my attention cumlminates. I'm done with this book but if anyone feels I'm missing out by not moving forward, I'm still willing to push through. less
