review 1: How to Babysit a Grandpa by Jean Reagan is an adorable book! The book is about a grandpa coming over to babysit his grandson while the parents go out, but according to the grandson, he's the one in charge! The book shows different, goofy ways the grandson entertains his grandpa. The book shows students how fun it can be with their grandparents come over. The book also has very cute and colorful illustrations that bring the book to life.An activity I would do would be to teach the students how-to writing. This requires students to explain step by step how to do something, whether it be how to tie their shoes or how to ride a bicycle. I think students would really enjoy how-to writing if they enjoyed the topic. I would pick a couple of different topics depending on the stude... morents, have them write their how-to instructions, and then compare and contrast with students who had their same topic. review 2: This book is funny, adorable, and heart-warming. It is told in the voice of a young child and it addresses the biggest potential fear of left-behind kids . . . yes, parents always come back.I think this book would be a perfect read aloud. The pictures are delightful and the text is a stitch. It would fit well in a social studies unit on families.For older children, read this book to provide an example of "point of view" writing.
