review 1: I favor dialogue between characters instead of descriptive writing about the scenery or circumstance. This first book of "The Ninja Librarians: The Accidental Keyhand" maybe had too much descriptions for me to enjoy. It could be because it is the first book of a triology or series that it seemed to have to explain itself too much. Dorrie and Marcus are teenagers that chase after their friend's mongoose. The mongoose gets loose in the library and runs in the janitor's closet. He seems to disappear in the floor and the two teenagers are after them. It is actual a portal to Petrarch's Library which is an amazing time-traveling base. There is a secret society of Ninja Librarians that go back in time and try to resolve problem areas in time.

... moreolutely great! So fun and hilarious. Full of tidbits parents will love and appreciate for their sheer cleverness, but this book never forgets it's first and foremost an action-adventure story for kids. I predict kids will quote a certain line from this story for years to come, but I don't want to give away what it is. And for the record, I don't think I've ever cheered so hard for a MC during her epic sword fight. less

I had trouble getting into this book, though I love the author's writing style (and sense of humor).
