review 1: I was a little disappointed by this book to be honest. I mean it had a great story behind it, and a few really emotionally explosive scenes, but I found myself drifting at times in the book. It slowed down and I wasn't quite caring what was about to happen next. I know most of you are going, "How can anything about pseudo-incest be emotional?" Well, easy. Jenika tells a story instead of writing just flat out erotica. It told a story of a girl that always was close to her 'Uncle'. He was the man her Aunt (blood Aunt) married. She's known him since birth pretty much and he was really the only one that understood or 'got her'. It was natural once she found out her Uncle and Aunt were in trouble. The emotions were high and when the actually intimacy took place I could understa... morend Dominic wigging out like he did--but to the level he did I was like, "Eh, a bit over the top." As with all books Jenika is a good writer. She writes characters that pop off the page and make you care. However, it was the randomly slow points that made me just not click with this book as a whole. Sometimes Dominic in the heat of the moment would say things meant to be 'hot and dirty' and they came off a little jarring and if they were said to me in the heat of the moment I would burst out laughing. I appreciate though that Jenika is taking on the taboo in a 'classy' way. Usually when you read these themes you get just pure porn. This however was an emotionally, well written story about love that was pretty much meant to be.
review 2: I actually loved this story, it is not as weird as it sounds since she has been in love with him since she was a little girl. Her aunt cheated on him and then left him while she was on a break from college and was staying with them at their lake house. They end up together but then the uncle freaks and re-inlists in the Navy Seals again. She finishes her college to be a doctor and they accidentally end up back at the lake house together. They talk about what happened and their happily ever after starts and the book ends leaving you feeling good. less
