review 1: This book actually turned out to be pretty good. It started out really rough and made me super nervous where it was going to go but thankfully it didn't get too bad. It would definitely be rated PG-13 if it was a movie. There are a lot of innuendos. There is some swearing and talk of premarital sex. I am glad it wasn't detailed. I liked Mel, sometimes. She was a little whiny. I really wish it would have given us Will's POV sometimes. Like how long had he thought that way and when did it change. I could relate to Mel. I have often wondered what I was passionate about and what I want to do with my life once my kids are all in school. I did like her sarcasm especially with the boss. Oh and the chocolate obsession was really gross. I love chocolate. A lot! But it was over don... moree in this book. The title should have been the Chocolate prophecies or something. I don't even remember Dr. Pepper being mentioned.
review 2: Wonderful British Choc- Lit! Funny and observant this book will show you what happens when a woman stuck in limbo finds her way. I loved The Dr Pepper Prophecies, with diverse characters the book was a real hoot. From a blue cervix to blind dates the shocking revelations that unfold are down right hilarious. Leading lady Mel is a bit of a walking disaster, but behind all her problems is really a woman confused by the life she is leading. What I loved about Mel was her thought process and Jennifer Gilby Roberts brings us one wacky chick.Once you start reading you won't want to stop, you are immediately drawn to Mel and straight away you want to solve all her problems, if it was a film you would be screaming at the tv "Nooooo, Can't you see he is your Harry to your Sally!" This is a seriously funny book you will giggle all the way through it, Mel sets up blind dates with totally inappropriate men, she freaks out on a plane which is still one of my favourite moments of the book! less
