review 1: I thought it was an interesting twist that the author wove a tale about life in the Scottish highlands, while creating a character who suffers with seizures. It must've been a frighetening thing to live with at a time when people didn't fully understand that condition. The story was also about learning to accept other people's differences, and the village of misfits was a great part of the story.
review 2: Quite an intriguing story. I like books that challenge you to think of something you've never thought of, and I've honestly never thought of how epilepsy must have seemed to people who knew little or nothing about medical dignoses. I think the author did a great job of portraying how it would effect someone living in historical times. Add to that some Scot... moretish romance and you have a story worth reading. less
