review 1: Actually fairly substantive for a chick lit book with such a cutesy cover. I read one of Jenny Colgan's previous books and was favorably impressed, so thought I would try again, and didn't regret it. The protagonist finds herself in a reasonably realistic romance -- even though it was predictable it was more fleshed out than you might expect, and I thought the secondary plot line involving Claire and Thierry was very poignant. It was a little on the long side for a book of its type but was well-edited and had a well-crafted story arc. I have definitely added Jenny Colgan to my roster of favorite chick lit authors.

It had promise but failed to live up to it. The sort of book I'd put in my 'Holiday by the pool' category (and I very, very rarely sit by a pool and read). less
