review 1: Love Square the first book I LOVED!!! I know some people have issues with cheating in books how cheating is so horrible. But in my opinion in a book cheating isn’t as crazy and horrible because we are reading a fiction novel so I don’t take it so personal. I believe by her writing Love Square and it being based on on affair was very brave because a lot of people are against it. I give her kudos for how well she wrote it and was dying to read His Ever After!!His Ever After was well worth the wait! I loved all the twist and turns in Jacob’s story and not many books that I have read are in the male’s POV and I absolutley love the males POV. The author had the perfect mix of throwing in Kara’s POV in there as well but it wasn’t too much and it always came at the pe... morerfect time when I would think I would love to know what’s going through Kara’s mind.Jessica has a great way of writing and I feel she really writes her stories so her readers feel connected with her characters. She is definitley going to be an author that will continue to be on my TBR list when she writes a new story! I give this book 5 stars!!-Harper
review 2: This is NOT a typical sweet and nicely laid out fairy-tale romance story this is real life and it came, it saw and it kicked a happy ending’s ass!OK, so I loved Love Square and was ‘Team Jacob’ from the start. I loved his strength and his emotion. The passion that pours from him, Jake loves and he loves hard and it really never was easy for him. After an affair with a very married Sam, he is shattered when she goes back to her husband, Aiden, and is with Brooke. Jacob is unbelievably unhappy, and drinks himself into a haze. He is constantly reminded of coulda, woulda, shoulda, if you get my drift. He reads Sam’s book of their twisted history and loses himself in the pain and anguish of the memory. You just want to hug him, so freakin’ hard. You feel his pain and you want nothing more for him to find his HEA. “If only I could tell her that I love her with an intensity that is destroying me inside. I had my chance at at a happily ever after, though. I held a precious, beautiful butterfly in my hands but let it get away.”Jacob decides that Sam has moved on, she is back with her husband and they have a child. He accepts blame for everything and decides that since all this pain is his fault he deserves it all. Brooke is an unhappy mess. You really do hate her. She is constantly throwing digs in at him and snapping over everything. I mean the things that she says to Jacob and the way she treats him screams bitch. Until… BOOM! Everything comes out and you get knocked back in your seat and need to hold on for dear life because the ride is fierce! Jacob had a lot of bad in his life. He lost his mother at a very young age, losing Sam, and numerous other things. He blames himself for things that are WAY beyond his control and he drowns himself in women and booze. He pushes away those who love him and wallows in his pain.Jake gets a HUGE wake-up call. I mean huge. Brooke’s best friend Kara slaps him in the face and hard. I mean besides the fact that he is attracted to her she cuts him to the quick and doesn’t let him get away with anything. They end up needing each other to get through a tough time and well it heats up and complicates quick! Though Jacob is completely blown away by her and feels things he never thought that he could after Sam, he pushes her away because of course he doesn’t think he deserves happiness.“She is almost like a balm to my savaged soul. Another part of me knows I need to stay far away from her. She is pure and good and light. I am dark and twisted and f***ked up. I ruin everything I touch. Just ask Sam or Brooke.”After confronting the past head on and making me fist pump like I was at a baseball game, Jake decides to go for what he wants and has a long road to find his way. Of course when you are banging multiple women in one night and always different ones…you tend to say and do things you regret. Jacob gets his head on right and decides he has found what he needs but just as he does Kara has a new guy? Things are not what they seem…and cue awkward reunion with past love and a fight with husband you have an action packed, intensely steamy love story that if I were to quote all my favorites from I would quote half the book.“You deserve so much better than me, but I can’t let you go. I need you to give me another chance.”There were so many emotions and so many times I was not sure where this was going to go or who Jake was going to end up with. I mean Jessica really kept you guessing and I laughed, I cried and I ached for the characters. This was the story I was waiting for. After I read Love Square I desperately wanted everything resolved and hashed out. I wanted Jake to know everything, I wanted Sam to know everything. Secretly I wanted Aiden to get a kick in the balls but that is just my opinion. I wanted Jake to be able to move to a place where he could be happy. I wanted him to find his HEA, whether it be with Sam, or anyone else though I will not reveal anything. Sam, Kara and Brooke all play very important roles in his healing, accepting and moving to grasp his happiness finally. Jacob Matthews is by far one of my favorite male characters. He is loving and passionate, he is selfless and has way too big of a heart. He loves his family and went through so much. He endured pain and loss, and watched people die. Always taking blame for things that weren’t his fault. This book is a must read! I don’t just recommend it because it was hot, steamy and amazing… I recommend it because it was something you can identify with. You can feel each tear, each realization as if it was your own. Watching Jake find his way after he thought he had lost his heart, was something that tears you into pieces and rebuilds you. I felt every word! You find yourself rooting him on and wanting to kick his ass at times. I mean you want to shake him and tell him to ‘WAKE UP!’ You want him to realize what his worth is and where he belongs and when he does you seriously want to stand up and clap for him. It was as if you were watching a baby learn to walk and when he found his footing it was brilliant. I loved it. less
