review 1: This book earned a 4/5 stars from me. While I think the plot is easily predictable, I found the characters are well written (although I think Nick's POV does quite have a purposely made-up life, probably because the author is a woman. Hence, doesn't really get a man POV on point). I don't give it a 5 because of it's many 'empty' scenes that don't really contribute much on the story, like how Nick told his buddies about Sienna in the bar. Also, like everyone else, I am pretty bothered by how long the chapters are, I kept counting how many pages I left before to next chapter.I think the long stretch of time (5 years) is a smart idea by Thompson. It gives an essence of realness to the story. Even though I really wanted Sienna and Nick to just tell each other about their feeli... morengs, I feel like this would have been an accurate time span because the reality is that it takes time to actually tell that someone about how you feel. The other good thing about this book is that the character, Sienna, inspires me in so many ways. Sometimes, I see a reflection of myself in Sienna, and that's why I adore her. The book teaches me that it's okay to be kind and put others before you, because it will pay off. Which leads me to another great thing about this book, it isn't just about Nick and Sienna and their love journey, but it also involves Sienna's father who had narcolepsy, a homeless man named Pete which became a really important person to Sienna, and then there's Chloe, Nick's girlfriend who is just a pain in the arse but at the same time a wonderful person who just loves Nick very much (of course you get jealous when your boyfriend have a beautiful girl bestfriend).I recommend this book to everyone for a light reading over the holidays, it has a lovely ending with ups and downs in the process and overall one of the best romance books I have read.
review 2: i'd say it was good because im a sucker for love stories, but it DID take the entire book for them to confess to each other. i mean come on...5 years??? and it just ended at that, therefore i couldnt even read about what their relationship was like as official lovers. so i give this 3 stars for being a cute(though agonizing) love story. not the most creative so its not 4 stars and definately not "OMG THIS IS THE BEST BOOK EVER, WHAT IS LIFE"-5 stars. less
