review 1: This book was a great read. The characters and most of their reactions to finding out about Lucy's condition were very believable.Jessica Verdi is a great author and her writing is smooth and easy to breeze through. Her other book, 'The Summer I Wasn't Me' is also a good book.My biggest problem with this book was that I do not know a single 17 year old who would do what Evan did in the end. Other then that the book was very good.
review 2: This was a fast read, but interesting and informational. This was the first book I have ever read about HIV and I glad it used an ordinary, somewhat privileged teenage girl as the protagonist instead of what we may stereotypically think of as a primary candidate to cast as the lead character.This is too graphic for middle sch... moreool, but I would consider providing it in a high school (junior/senior) classroom library. I would much prefer for my students to get the knowledge via a book rather than first hand experience.Classroom considerations: SEX (nothing too graphic, but clearly it happens,) underage alcohol use, references to drug use, the protagonist is raised by two fathers. Again, you know your demographics best. I mention everything of which the most conservative schools are wary. less
