review 1: Naomi Whitehouse is a world famous chef who's had her own TV show for three years. But, when her fiance leaves her when she miscarries their child, she decides it's time to go home to her small-town GA home. Naomi left 15 years earlier to find her fame and fortune - after spending the night with her boyfriend's brother, the boyfriend she still loves. Naomi hopes she'll be able to get Jake Hansen, her old boyfriend, to forgive her and maybe give their relationship a second chance. This was a cute book. Short and a fast read. Not much plot, aside from Naomi wanting to reconnect with Jake, the super-hot fire fighter, whose wife died two years ago, but I enjoyed it.
review 2: Another freebie on amazon. I found it lacking. The story picks up 15 years afterNaomi leave
... mores Jake. She comes back, after becoming a successful celebrity chef and "sowing her wild oats" and tried to make amends with Jake. All we got was the merest glimpse into their past and then boom! They're all over each other back in love again. Where was the drama? She purposely left him so she could go have sex with other men. It seemed like they never addressed her leaving. I didn't like Naomi. She seemed so self-absorbed and a people pleaser. When they finally got together and he decides he wants to spend his life with her, I was thinking you don't even know her! This story was mediocre at best. The whole premise of Jake as a firefighter and Naomi opening her own bakery was barely even used in the book. Not my favorite story. less
