review 1: I don't know what to think of this book. I wasn't that impressed with Carson in the beginning - I thought him shallow - but as I read more I began to like him, though I still couldn't understand how he became so dependent on someone to provide him material things yet be so reluctant to give the one person who (although unable to indulge his high maintenance self) loved him unconditionally a chance. In the end, he realized life isn't all about clothes and jewelry, but love, and that's all that matters.Other things I realized/noticed while I was reading:1. Girly boys aren't my thing, but to each his own... Eddie seems to like it.2. Eddie is a sweetheart, his mother is a senior citizen who is a bit scary-crazy but in a lovable way, and Anthony is a bastard.3. Anthony is the s... morecummiest scum on the face of the earth. He is the scum that other scums love to hate.4. Carson's life's a mess, but he's managed to come out from the rubble with a whole new outlook in life. He's come a long way and he should be proud of himself.5. I lied. I understand how someone could want to be provided for with nice things. Where do I find a sugar daddy? Coz, I want one.
review 2: Sweets for the sweet.Carson as a character is interesting because he's a magpie, but he knows it and it bothers him. I totally get that because while I'm Asian and Asian courtesy dictates that we politely (read:forcefully) decline gifts and such, I, at least, am really utilitarian and I don't see problems accepting gifts. Except I do. D:So yeah. Awkward incomplete rant short, I really identify with Carson. Okay, maybe I'm not an uber-attractive burlesque dancer, but I get his mentality.Oh, Eddie. Eddie is of the "too good to be real" class that we all secretly love and yearn for. Yeah. I liked it. You know? I don't actually like the cover. I never really liked Nunn's work and especially for this one, I don't think the cover figure looks as if he'd be able to effortlessly mistaken for a girl. I mean, I can see him looking like a pretty fishy queen, but the cover dude's pretty butch...(all in the face, girl, all in the face). The faces are always too angular in a mannish way... *sigh less
