review 1: Watch Me Walk Away (The Walking Series #1) by Jill Prand4 out of 5 StarsSoul Mates and high school sweethearts Bobby and Lisa have been apart 6 years because of his service in the military and his fear that he wouldn't make it home. While she would have waited, Bobby didn't want Lisa to give up her high school years, so he cut off all communication when he left for basic, but he didn't cut off his love or his desire for her. When they meet up at a friend's opening night on Broadway her heart is still his and he wants to make it right, but can you take back all the pain and learn to trust again when you've learned to move on?Overall I enjoyed Prand's style but I have to say I wasn't too fond of the choppy prologue, the exceptionally generic names, and the constant use of ... morethe word "baby". While those are personal issues for me, I did find them distracting while reading. The names felt like filler names until she thought up better ones and at one, John, Bobby, Chris, Lisa, Joe, Stan, it just became a 50’s sock hop feel. Then at one point Lisa said she wanted men to quit calling her baby (internally) but it's all Stuart or Bobby called her except for beautiful. Otherwise I found the book to be well written with good character development, good timing and speed of action, and I loved how the friends stayed close over the years. I don't believe in love at first site necessarily but I do believe in soul mates and I think Prand hit the nail on the head with her description of how it feels to find your other half! I can't wait to see what happens with Brad! He was truly one of my favorite characters and I hope it works out well for him in the end.*A complimentary copy was given in exchange for an honest review*Pepper, My Secret Book Spot
review 2: Very good book!! I love when books can capture my attention from the first couple of pages. After I read the first few pages, I was hooked and read nonstop. I loved the chemistry between Bobby and Lisa. Although I wanted to slap Bobby a few times and if I was Lisa, I would have dumped Bobby, I do like them together. They are each others soul mates and they proved that time and time again. I loved them as a couple as well as I loved Brad. Brad was Lisa's best friend and he loved her more than just a friend. I felt so bad for Brad on various occasions but I'm happy he was there for Lisa when no one else, not even Bobby, was. This book is about a woman named Lisa, who six years ago got dumped by her boyfriend, Bobby, when he joined the military. He didn't contact her for six years until one day, Lisa sees him again. She, like many woman would in her position, had mixed feelings about seeing him again. She realized she never stopped loving him, but she also remembers how heartbroken she was when he left her. How lifeless she felt. How broken... But at the same time, when she is with Bobby she feels so happy, so filled with life. How can a love so strong sometimes hurt so bad? This story tells the story of Lisa's and Bobby's new lives. Lisa will question herself a lot. Will she take Bobby back? Will she ever know the real reason why he left her and hasn't talked to her in over six years? And is Lisa strong enough to pull her self together if things with bobby break apart again? I really like this book and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good book packed with lots of romance. Some of my favorite quotes: "I pick her up and hold her for just a second then turn and lift her over the barrier--the hardest thing I'll ever have to do is let her go." "Where the hell did you say you got that man? Can you clone him and make one for me?""I won't hurt you again, Lisa. I would rather die first." less
