review 1: "Nothing can be lost by admitting our weaknesses and imperfections to one another. In fact, quite the opposite is true. We will be better mothers, better wives, and better women if we are able to finally drop the act and get real. Who are we pretending for, anyway? It is my my hope that no other mother feels as alone as I felt those first few months of motherhood. There are millions of us mothers, all feeling the same way, all across the globe. All we need to do is find one another."Scary Mommies of the world, unite!"This book is a little too close to my everyday life to be entertaining, but it is comforting. No matter the perception others want to convey, no mother is perfect. And it's not a competition anyway. Let's be kind, people!
review 2: Great, easy, fun
... moreny, true read. And I picked it up right at the perfect time. The boys just turned 2 and our household has become a mess of tears, screaming and constant bickering. It's total kid meltdown warfare. Reading this book has reminded me that these times are fleeting, this behavior is normal, and I'm not alone. And that at the end of the day, I wouldn't trade it for the world. It's not the next award-winning novel, or the parent's guide to success, but sometimes it's the little things that count, like regular mothers living regular lives, that remind you you're doing alright. less
