review 1: I liked it!I don't understand why this one doesn't have a higher rating. Perhaps because it isn't the standard recognize-the-fated-mate-on-first-sight sort of shifter tale. Dunno. I'm not really crazy about that over-used trope anyway! There was a good plot here, and enjoyable characters with some depth. And good writing that let everything hang together in a believable way. I wouldn't mind a bit if this turned into a series. :-)
review 2: I rather liked Merrows Muscling through and had rather big expectations for this novel. Unfortunately I got dissapointed.I didn't like either Nick nor Justin. In the beginning I was positively surprised to find positive references to Germany and Germans by and English author only to get disappointed again by the same old same
... moreold. Anhéow, that's not the main point - I thought the character of Nick inconsistent and rather unpleasant. As well I was wondering, why he, while beeing a natural Alpha, is acting so unsure of himself and while be confronted with otehr persons (mainly the police) - did not make sense to me.Julian on the other hand was a real basket case who rather needs counseling then some strong partner who looks out for him. His behaviour could have been explained by his ranking in wolf-hierachie and maybe a certain liking of pain but it did not and so I think he has considerable psychological defects. I was really sorry for him, also when he finally got together with Nick because I think it won't help him.To get back to the German topic - this wasn't well thought out in my opinion. Which agenda did Justins father actually have???? We know his opinion but what's his agenda actually? In the end I was much more interested in the relationship between Crack and Julians girl friend (forgot her name) and was sad to not read more about them. less

This was a good story overall but for me not as enjoyable as some of the author's other books.
