review 1: This is the story of Lavinia Esposito,aka Vinnie or Vin for short. She's teaches criminology at a college but here is the problem she does nothing the way a criminology would. She acts like a stereotypical "good, helpless, Italian woman" whenever she's around the "big, strong men". I did give this three stars though because the writing was fun and if she could have a stronger female character I probably would have given it four stars.Definitely has possibilities for future novels if Griffin can work on the heroine and tighten the story a little.
review 2: Parts were drawn out and the whole thing about having a neighbor upstairs she hasn't verified background checks on(takes the guy's word) seems odd, but it was an interesting mystery book. While I was able to f... moreigure out the 'who done it', I wasn't quite on with the 'who done it' which made the book interesting. As with other first time books I've read recently, this is a complete novel and there's no need to go on to the next one, but one may. To me, no loose ends were left with this book, which I enjoy. less
