review 1: This book is really poorly titled, given a boring unoriginal plot, and the main character is so cookie-cutter sweet and perfect it's disgusting. Literally the only flaw she has is that she's too compassionate and stubborn. It markets itself as post-apocalyptic, but the only real evidence is that the government kinda got kicked in the teeth, and people are poor. But no need to worry, the kind hearted protagonist kind save you with her kind-hearted resourcefulness and false modesty. This book is boring, and lacks any depth what-so-ever.
review 2: Not your typical dystopian YA: this one is actually plausible. Set in the near future in the Pacific Northwest, it isn't an epic save-the-world story; it's about characters trying to live their lives while the society we
... more know slowly crumbles around them. What makes it a four-star book is that I cared about the characters. All of them. They had believable motivations and did the right things for the wrong reasons or the wrong things for the right reasons, like real people. The plot hangs together well, too: starts out simple but builds on realistic complexities to an exciting finish. less

For a book labeled 'apocalyptic', little did happen. This was a rather forgettable read.
