review 1: I really enjoyed this one. I hadn't read any of the other books in the series, but I intend to after this. Vicki, Elias and Jesse are so real that their struggles are sometimes far too heart-wrenching, but I loved them.There's a tendency in romances to not consider the implications that would arise in a relationship between more than two people. I thought Ms. Burkhart did a good job establishing that there were things these people would have to work out. Elias has a lot of jealousy to work through, all of which is understandable considering the fact that the relationship Vicki has with Jesse is quite different than the one he has with her. But it's also obvious that Jesse brings something out in Vicki that tempers her a little… with him she gets to be nurturing as well a... mores the one to give orders, and with Elias she's always fought. The two of them are passionate, both in and out of bed, so Jesse as a calming influence is a good thing. And it was refreshing to see characters who had distinguishable personalities, something I don't always find in erotic romances.If I have any quibbles, it's that there were points at which I wondered if Jesse wasn't getting a bit of a raw deal. In the end, I know he's where he wants to be, but I guessI'd have liked to have gotten a better sense of commitment from Vicki toward him. That said, though, what I got was lovely, and has made me want to find other books with similar themes.
review 2: Although Hurt Me So Good will always be my favorite of The Connaghers series I have to say that I loved this book!I fell in love with Jesse the submissive street artist with his complete and utter devotion to Vicki Connagher. I think we all secretly wish we had someone in our lives like him, who loved us unconditionally. No strings attached, no judging. Who's only desire was to just be near us in whatever way they could. Even if that meant sharing us with someone else. Hmmm, maybe that's just me then:)This story is a ménage with light bdsm elements, but even if that's not your cup of tea I still urge you to give this story a chance. Joely Sue Burkhart's talent in creating such compelling characters and an engaging story is well worth your time.A big thank you to Joely Sue Burkhart for giving me an early peek at this book. less
