review 1: I can't quite work out what this book wants to be, if it's paranormal romance it needs more sex, if it's urban fantasy it needs more story and tension. The hero needs to be a bit more self sufficient he can't keep getting rescued by his supernatural pals. I wanted this to be like Dresden, and it wasn't, I like urban fantasy and wanted to like this more, I might try the second one to see if it improves.
review 2: This series starts with an promising idea and solid writing. Sadly nobody told he author that a good story and wishfullfilment aren´t the same and so he tries to incorporate every bad cliche and stereotype that exists. Our hero is smart, more than attractive, pure, altruistic, favored by god and gets a new superpower (because easily beating demons is
... moreclearly not enough) every 50 or so pages. Of course he gets the smartest, prettiest girl on the planet and their love transcends everything. Added to that is a boring plot and bland enemies with no character. So yeah.. this first book is still tolerable but the later ones are good examples at what to avoid when writing a book. less
