review 1: This book is FUN. As much as I love "serious", scholarly history books, I appreciate the types of popular history books that are just outright funny. The chapter titles were HILARIOUS (favorites include: "It's So Much Easier to Kill People With Metal" and "The Romans: Sick Fucks"), and the "Ease of Use" / "Advantages/Disadvantages" section always made me laugh.I may not be an expert on weaponry after reading this book, but I gained a few new pieces of knowledge, and it definitely made me laugh harder than a book has in awhile.
review 2: This book is exactly what it purports to be. Read the title. If that sounds interesting to you and kind of makes you chuckle you will enjoy this book. If it does not then this book is very likely not for you. This book was m
... moreade for every 13 year old boy anywhere who thought swords and guns and other killing machines were pretty sweet once upon a time. Clearly the author was once that 13 year old boy. The book is simply a list of weapons, in chronological order, that the author thinks are pretty cool. It starts with rocks, it gets to guns and the end of the 19th century. Each entry is 1-2 pages long, has a picture of the weapon, a little historical information, something that makes it notable or cool, and then on to the next weapon. This book was pretty awesome. less
